Does karma exist in reality or is it just a myth?

Have you ever questioned why everything horrible in your life keeps happening? Have you ever wondered why your life was becoming worse despite you trying to be a good person? If you believe in God, have you ever wondered why God allows such horrible things to happen to you?

Does karma exist in reality or is it just a myth?

I'm just expressing my perspective on life, how I perceive things, and how Annie Duke's (A Poker) book "Thinking in Bets: Making Smarter Decisions When You Don't Have All the Facts" has affected my ideology and outlook on life.

Here's an illustration: Jack, a modest truck driver and Natasha is a compassionate woman who works for a financial company. Both of them had important things to do on a beautiful Monday. Before 8 a.m., Jack needs to deliver the box and Natasha needs to catch a flight. Due to their sense of haste, they drove their vehicles quickly, which resulted in an accident. They both passed away after that. So who made the error? The accident might have been prevented if either of them drives the vehicle carefully.

Jack and Natasha don't know one another, and their predicament forced them to act in a way that made their lives terrible for both of them. What can we infer from this, then? Life is a sequence of events and combinations of our actions & reactions and those of other related and unrelated people actions and reactions. Someone else's behavior's and circumstance either directly or indirectly affect our lives.

Let's see further, many people I know see life like a game of chess and they think that certain things will happen to them if certain things go their way, but they completely ignore the unpredictability in their lives. The author stated, view your life as a poker game rather than a chess game. Because in chess, you eventually come to understand how things function and how they progress. A boy who only recently began learning the chess game and sought to compete against a grand master, the boy is very certain to lose.

However in a Poker, it's difficult to predict who will triumph in a match between a novice player and a grand master because poker is an uncertain game. If the cards are shuffled in the novice player's favor, then the novice player has a better chance of winning than the grand master. After reading this book I understand life is a uncertain game and it's all about the probability, randomness, and to some extent possibility.

It is not guaranteed that Virat Kohli will strike a century in a sixth game even if he does so in five straight matches. In a same vein, whether you done good or bad deeds to someone, it doesn't guarantied that you'll get the same in return. It's all about the probability.  For instance, if you do something kind or awful to a group of individuals who are all extremely close to you, the likelihood that you will receive the same is higher or you may not get it. Yet, if you do something good or bad to a group of people who don't know you, the likelihood that you would receive the same is much lower or you may get it. Do you still believe in karma after reading this? It's up to you.

Even when you have all the information and knowledge you need to make a critical decision, you can't be sure it will turn out the way you expect it to since you never know what surprises life has in store for you. You may be feeling anxious, upset, and thinking like you deserve it, the good wishes nevertheless leaves your hand and travel to someone who is seem to be undeserving. Don't lose hope. Because this is how life works. Raise your head, carry out your actions, and react to the situations thoughtfully to increase your likelihood of success. As I said earlier, life is all about the probability, randomness and to some extent possibility.

And finally God apparently doesn't exist and has no place in the universe. If praying to God makes you joyful and motivated, that's excellent, but believing that God will take care of your life is a fundamentally irrational behavior. So see the randomness, probability and possibility of your life, it will cause our lives more interesting to live. Just accept the life like a poker game and embrace the unpredictable nature and live it accordingly.

I have a rule in life that I try to live by: I always try to help individuals I don't know and It induces complacency in my conscience.
